Determination of Solid's not Fat in Milk
At first Lactometer reading is taken at 21°C (For Zeal
Lactometer) at 27°C (For BIS lactometer) .
Then the SNF is calculated using the
formula.
%SNF
= CLR/4 + 0.21F + 0.36 (For Zeal Lactometer)
% SNF = ( CLR+ % Fat) / 4 + 0.44 (For BIS Lactometer)
For cow milk,
Lactometer reading is taken at 21OC. The SNF is calculated using
the formula.
%SNF
= CLR/4 + 0.2F + 0.14
Note:- CLR means Corrected Lactometer Reading
F = % of Fat in milk
